Hi.  I’m Matt Nelson, owner of NELSONBUILT.  I’ve been in San Diego since 2003.  I am from the Seattle area.  I grew up working in the family lumber yard during the summers. Nelson Lumber was in a small town called La Conner which lies at the southern portion of the San Juan Island region.  The town is filled with many artists and creative people who were always coming to our store for their supplies.  These people always fascinated me.  I feel it’s because of them that I approach each project from a unique perspective.  I desire to treat each project as something with the potential to enhance the owners’ environment.  This can come from something as simple as a shelf, to as complex as a home addition.

I very much enjoy the outdoors and all things nature.  From trees, mountains and rivers to vast desert geology.  Inspiration is everywhere.

I have been in business for myself since 2000, and have found San Diego a wonderful place to live and do this work.

I take pride in my work and desire to bring my clients the great feeling of satisfaction if not joy.  You’re happy, I’m happy.  Simple as that.
